My 2009 garden map

In order to avoid pests and diseases you need to rotate the plants in your garden. Don’t make the mistake of thinking you will remember where you planted everything when next spring rolls around.

The solution?

Make a map detailing where everything is planted. You don’t have to be an artist or worry about the scale of your drawing. As long as it makes sense to you, it will do.

The best way to not lose your picture is to create a gardening journal. You can detail things like rainfall, when you planted certain vegetables, harvest dates, and yields. This comes in super handy when you are pouring over seed catalogs for your next planting season.

You can buy a journal like the one below, or you can simply use a lined-paper notebook. Three-ringed binders come in handy as well since you can add pockets for storing your garden maps and photos.
