Celebrate Banned Book Week Sep. 26 to Oct. 3

Can you believe books get banned here in America? Freedom of speech? Freedom to read whatever you want?

Geez, the next thing you know the government will be able to wiretap anyone they want without reasonable cause. What? They already can thanks to the Patriot Act? Ahh, crap. Better go re-read 1984 by George Orwell ;).

Well, anyway, I love to read books. Fiction or non-fiction – it doesn’t matter. I just love reading. Sometimes I get a book and after a few pages if it bores me or disgusts me I put it down. Yeah, that’s right – I sometimes don’t finish a book if I don’t like it.

But that’s MY decision. At least I had access to the book and it wasn’t banned.

Celebrate Banned Book Week by reading some of these books that are on the list:

The Fairy Tales of Brothers Grimm
The Jungle
The Wind in the Willows
The Wonderful Wizard of Oz
O Pioneers!
Black Beauty
The War of the Worlds
The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn
To Kill a Mockingbird

I cannot believe the books that get banned. Some of these were (and still are) books that deeply impacted and affected me in my life. I can’t imagine not being able to have read them in school.
