Wool - Hugh Howey

Hugh Howey’s Wool hit bookstore shelves yesterday in both paperback and hardcover.

Just what is Wool about? Check out this cool book trailer –

Not convinced if this is your kind of book? Not a problem! You can read Wool – Part One for free and see what you think.

Howey started out selling ebook versions of Wool and the first installment had such an overwhelming response that he continued and expanded the story. I stumbled upon the series about a year ago and have devoured just about everything else that Hugh has written. It didn’t take long for publishers to take notice of the success he had self-publishing and Simon & Schuster signed him to a unique deal that allowed him to keep the digital rights to his books while they published them in hardcover and paperback.

Even though I read the ebook version of the Wool Omnibus Edition last year, I wanted a physical copy of the book just so I could support the author. It’s a pretty awesome thing to watch an author’s success and popularity explode like this.

Hugh continued the silo story in the Shift series (First Shift – Legacy, Second Shift – Order, and Third Shift – Pact). The third (and final according to Mr. Howey) installment of the Wool (or Silo Series as they have come to be called) is entitled Dust and is tentatively scheduled to be published at the end of this year.
