Why does coffee smell so good, but taste so bad?

Now, a bit of a disclaimer here - I love the smell AND taste of coffee, but this song is hilarious. I remember being a kid smelling my mom's coffee and wanting a taste. Then, of course, I tasted it and thought it was truly disgusting. Well, the thought of coffee tasting bad only lasted until college when the need for waking up overcame my misconception that coffee was (for lack of a better word) icky. I love coffee and I love this song. Enjoy!
