Honey Oatmeal Bread Recipe

by admin on September 24, 2008

My grandfather was many things. He was a modern day renaissance man who was a bricklayer, factory worker, cake baker (people would pay him to make their wedding cakes and they were excellent), candy maker (oh man, did we eat good at Christmas), and all around good cook. Aside from getting to eat his candy and frosting mistakes the best thing he made was Honey Oatmeal Bread. He passed away this spring and every time I bake this bread I think of him.

Such memories.

This is probably my favorite bread and all you really need to top it with is some butter – it’s just that good.

Here is the breadmaker recipe (makes 1 1/2 pound loaf). Bake it and share it with those you love.

  • 1 Cup warm water
  • 1 Tbsp. vegetable or olive oil
  • 1/4 Cup Honey
  • 1 Tsp. salt
  • 1/2 Cup oatmeal
  • 2 Cups breadmaker flour
  • 1 Tsp. bread machine yeast

Put ingredients in breadmaker in order. Set for regular bread with light crust. Enjoy!
