Pictures of produce from our garden

by admin on June 17, 2010

I love walking through our raised beds and finding new fruits and veggies to eat straight out of the garden. We have been enjoying strawberries since right around Memorial Day and now their season is winding down. My little berry thieves (both kids and critters) will be disappointed.

Our raspberry crop has come early and for the first time we have been enjoying red raspberries and strawberries at the same time. Of course, none of the raspberries make it into the house. I try to sneak out of the raspberry patch with a crimson handful of berries, but the kids zero in on me and my precious cargo like a swarm of starving mosquitoes swooping in at a pool party.

Just last week I noticed blossoms on our sugar snap pea vines and while weeding them just the other day I looked up and saw a plethora of pods. They make a nice treat right off the vine although my daughter would disagree. She chomped on one the other day and said, “Mmm” followed promptly by a “Ptoooie!” as she spit it out. Oh well, we’ll keep trying.

Here are a couple photos of some of our garden flowers –
