Eight Signs That it is Already Summer at My House

Country Time Lemonade

Summer doesn’t officially begin until June 21, 2010, but it sure looks (and feels!) like summer at our house. Here are the eight signs that prove it. Why eight and not ten? Because it’s summer and I’m having too much fun with the kids to come up with another two. čÖé

  1. The kiddie pool has been in heavy use all week long. So far it has been a boat racing venue, water source for making lakes and rivers, landing area for a slide, and a quick wash-up spot for sticky hands and faces.
  2. We have gone through an entire box of popsicles and almost a full box of ice cream sundae cones from Schwan’s.
  3. Our strawberries are ripening and my little strawberry thief (aka my daughter) has been nearly as quick at eating them up as the local wildlife population.
  4. We spend about 80% of our day outside with about 70% of that time spent pushing my daughter on the swing.
  5. The kids and I have all drank out of the garden hose nearly every day ;).
  6. My daughter and I made a huge pitcher of ice cold Country Time Lemonade and nearly polished it off at lunch.
  7. I’m putting in a new “John Deere” fire pit this weekend. It involves a John Deere Tractor tire hub and reclaimed bricks. I’ll post pictures upon its completion.
  8. Speaking of fire pits, we have already enjoyed hotdogs and s’mores on the old fire pit. If the kids had their way that would be our evening meal all summer long.
