Home Sweet Home

They say that home is where the heart is and that must be true. My home is Michigan and I wouldn’t live anywhere else.

Things might be tough all over, but they’ve been tough in Michigan for quite a while now so we’re kind of used to it. Despite the high gas prices and the cost of everything else going up I’m not looking to leave Michigan. If I move anywhere, it will be ‘Up North’ here in Michigan.

The weather this week (I know it’s only Tuesday, but bear with me here) has been wonderful and we’ve been having a campfire every evening. We cooked a pot of chili the other night and tonight’s menu was what we like to call Hobo Dinners. Basically, it’s sliced potatoes (you can add sliced carrots too, but we were out), onions, and a hamburger patty all wrapped up in a tin foil packet.

They were mighty tasty :).

We made some homemade fire starters using a cardboard egg carton, saw dust (plenty of that on the floor of my shop), and melted candle wax. I’ll post a pic when I get one to turn out. Anyway, they work great – just light the egg carton portion and unleash your inner pyro while the flames start dancing.
