Let the cold winds blow

by admin on January 22, 2013

When I took the kids to school this morning the temperature gauge was a balmy 3° and the radio announcer was saying that it was 13° below zero with the windchill.

It was this past fall that I spent an afternoon hunched over in the attic rolling out additional insulation to bump the R-value up to around R-40 (well above the recommended R-30 for attics here in Michigan). It was a sweaty and dirty job, but as I walked in the door after taking the kids to school I was welcomed by the warmth that the extra insulation helps provide and I could smile to myself and know that it was, indeed, worth the effort.
