Daddy, where does milk come from?

Female cow

My darling 3 year-old daughter asked me this today on the way to pick up a bag of chicken feed. The following is a transcript of our ensuing conversation. 🙂

ME: Milk comes from cows.

HER: From where?

ME: I said that it came from cows (thinking she might not have heard me the first time).

HER: From their butts?!?

ME: No, from their udders.

HER: From the others? She said this with a screwed up questioning look on her face.

ME: Milk comes from cows’ udders.

HER: From those pink things?

ME: Yes, those pink things on their bellies.

HER: Okay.

I don’t think I’ll be able to get a glass of milk for awhile without grinning and thinking of this little exchange :).
