Everything is fine – three words I love to hear from a doctor

by admin on August 19, 2009

My wife and I took our son to see a specialist today for a suspicious looking lymph-node on his neck. We had to wait nearly two months for the appointment so, needless to say, by the time this morning’s appointment arrived we were a bit nerved up. The lymph-node in question bumps out and becomes quite noticeable when he is fighting an infection or even from a handful of bug bites.

We just wanted to make sure it was nothing serious which was the reason for asking the pediatrician for the referral to the specialist. The pediatrician didn’t seem too worried, but he is thorough and connected us to a wonderful doc. After a thorough exam of our son’s neck and the specific lymph-node in question the doctor’s face brightened portending to us the good news.

Then, he uttered the three words I love to hear from a doc, “Everything is fine.” Followed by additional information and the reassurance that if it was his son (he sends his kids to our Pediatrician čÖé ) he wouldn’t worry about it either as there really is nothing to be worried about. It’s just an above average lymph-node that really likes to do a good job.

We’re just thanking God for answered prayers. My devotional I read before going to bed last night was about being thankful in the good times as well as the bad (always something you can be thankful for if you are looking for it) and it tied in perfectly to our day today.
