My son starts preschool in two weeks

by admin on August 25, 2008

Oh how the time flies. Especially when you have kids. Hard to believe it, but my son is starting preschool two weeks from today. It will be a few hours a day and four days a week, but it is a huge step (to me anyway).

He will undoubtedly make new friends and have a wonderful time learning new things. Still, it is a bit of a shock to let your little ones leave your safe and protective care and spend part of their day away from you. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a great program that he’ll be in and I’m sure he will grow by leaps and bounds. It will also make the transition to all day kindergarten a bit smoother for both him and his parents.

As a parent you can’t help but get this idea snowballing through your head that first comes preschool and the next thing you know he’s sixteen and asking for the car keys on a Saturday night. You just know in your heart that the time you have with your kids is so precious. Don’t let it slip away.

That’s why it wasn’t difficult for me to decide to work from home and watch our kids. No matter how challenging each day is (some more than others), at the end of the day I wouldn’t trade my life for anyone’s. I know something that all too many parents don’t figure out until their kids are already gone.

Life is too short to not spend more time with your kids.
