My Favorite Christmas Commercials

by admin on October 14, 2016

There was frost on the ground this morning and the chill in the air paired with walking through the Christmas Wonderland at Menards with my kids earlier this week got me thinking Christmas-y thoughts. Invariably those thoughts turned to my favorite Christmas commercials.

Grab your ticket for a ride on the retro-train. Sit back. Mind the conductor. Enjoy the time travel trip to yesteryear and the ghosts of Christmas past.

Folger’s Coffee – Peter Comes Home For Christmas

This one hits me over the head with nostalgia. I can’t stand Folger’s coffee, but this commercial takes me back to my childhood.

Norelco Santa

Do they still run a version of this at Christmas? It seemed like this was always a staple at Christmas time.

Ahh, the Budweiser Clydesdales at Christmas. Kitschy Christmas nostalgia right there.

Hallmark – Tom’s Coming For Christmas!

Boy is it dusty in here. Gotta wipe the dust out of my eyes. The second commercial in my list featuring the unexpected arrival of a family member at Christmas. I sense a trend here.

Coca Cola – I’d Like To Teach The World To Sing

I can remember watching this on our little 19-inch color television set. That odd period of time in the late 1970s and early 1980s when things were still a little bit hippy.

McDonald’s – Ice Skating, Early 1980s

Never realized how long this commercial was back in the day. Do they make commercials this long anymore? Good feeling nostalgia right there though.

Hershey Kisses – Bell Choir

We go from a commercial that clocked in at just over one minute to a 15 second ditty that everyone remembers.

Kodak – Michael Landon

Double nostalgia. Vintage commercial for a product that won’t make sense to kids today. Ahh well.
