Strange isn’t it? I love what I do so much that it is difficult to refer to it as ‘work.’ As if by calling it ‘work’ I am attaching a stigma that this is something unenjoyable that I simply have to do.
Whether I am working on marketing or building baskets (woodworking! I love it) I just feel blessed to get to do this for a living. It’s only when I am doing bookkeeping that this really feels like work.
Why is that?
Well, I graduated from college with a degree in accounting and went on to work in a CPA firm for roughly three years. Looking back with 20-20 hindsight I wonder why I ever thought being a CPA would be an enjoyable experience. The hours were horrid and you got pulled this way and that by the whims of a dozen different partners.
So, even after all of these years bookkeeping/accounting is the only part of my job I don’t like. I don’t feel guilty when I work on those items.
Thankfully, most days are spent on the fun things. Writing blog posts, social networking, processing orders, and other tasks.
Yep, I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
